For most auditions, unless otherwise stated, each person must come prepared with a one minute monologue and an audition cut of a song (if the show is a musical).
Preferably, the song choice would be one from a character of the show that you are auditioning for. The biggest piece of advice is... be yourself! Find monologues and songs that showcase your talent!
Typically, a monologue should be between 45 seconds and a minute long. Your monologue can come from almost anywhere! It can be a famous rant or speech from a movie, dialogue from a play, an original monologue, and so much more! Be sure to find a monologue that fits you as a performer! Some adult language is okay in monologues, as long as there is reason and it is done correctly.
Song portions of auditions are simple! Just pick a chorus and a verse, or about a minute of a song, that you can knock out of the park. An audition cut of a song is usually 16-32 bars. When auditioning, it is always helpful to pick songs from characters you are interested in. Check the show's audition pages for specific information regarding that particular show's audition process.
